CONFIDENTIALITY
Please be assured
that any contact you have with the
surgery will be treated as strictly
confidential. All doctors, nurses
and staff working in partnership
with the NHS have a legal duty to
maintain the highest level of
confidentiality. If you wish to view
your notes, please telephone the
surgery and the receptionist will
make the relevant appointment
arrangements. However, we do advise
viewing medical records with a
doctor as they may contain
unfamiliar terminology. You can also
request printed copies of your
records, but please note there is a
charge for this service.
Aggression and
Violence
We aim to treat our patients
courteously at all times and expect
our patients to treat our staff in a
similarly respectful way. We take
seriously any threatening, abusive
or violent behaviour against any
of our staff or patients. If a
patient is violent or abusive, they
will be
warned that their behaviour is
unacceptable. If they persist, they
may
be asked to leave the premises. We
may exercise our right to take
action to have them removed,
immediately if necessary, from our
list of patients.
Patients with
particular needs
We aim to offer a welcoming
environment for all our patients and
do our best to assist those with
special needs. At two of our
surgeries we have dedicated parking
spaces for cars displaying a
disabled sticker.
Induction Loop
All surgeries have a portable
induction loop at reception. Please
turn your hearing aid to the
appropriate position. A crystal
listener is also available for you
to use in your consultation. Please
ask at reception.
Specialist and
hospital care
If a GP or another member of our
health care team believes you need
hospital treatment or specialist
care elsewhere, they will ask you
where and when you would like to go.
They can usually then initiate the
referral process electronically
while you wait although this system
is not yet available for all
services.
Teaching
We teach medical and nursing
students at the practice and
occasionally have other students on
work experience placements. You will
always be informed if students are
present with the doctor or nurse
that you are seeing. Please inform
the receptionist if your personal
choice is to see the doctor or nurse
alone.
